Word Families

I believe word families are really important to help children learn to read and to spell. If they can see the commonality between words and remember the patterns, they should have a larger sight vocabulary and larger mental spelling dictionary to access, to make learning more accessible. After spending hours looking for worksheets to help the children work on this skill, I gave up and started to make my own. There are a couple of samples below and the aim is to finish worksheets for as many of the word families as I can. My plan is to print them out and make little booklets, which can then be sent home as a writing exercise for homework.
